Years 7 and 9

Years 7 and 9

Entry to the Senior School for St. Francis’ Prep pupils is automatic. Children who join our Prep Department by the start of Year 5 will not be required to sit an entrance test for the Senior School.

Prospective pupils for entry into Years 7 and 9 should register for the Entrance Assessments which are held in January each year. Please see the ‘How To Apply’ page for details of the application process.

The Entrance Assessment comprises:

  • Sitting papers in English, Mathematics, Non-verbal Reasoning.
  • An interview with the Head, Deputy Head or a Senior Teacher.
  • A satisfactory reference from the candidate’s current school.

On the day of the Entrance Examinations, prospective pupils spend the whole day with us. We work very hard to make sure that the experience for the pupils is stress-free. Pupils take the tests in the morning, then have lunch as a group in the Dining Room, and in the afternoon, they enjoy fun group activities (non-assessed) so that they can get to know their fellow applicants.

Deferred entry will be offered to successful candidates in Year 6 who wish to remain at their current school until joining the College in Year 9. The offer will be dependent on the pupil making good progress in Years 7 and 8 and the College receiving a satisfactory report from their Head prior to joining.

Candidates who take the January Entrance Examination are automatically considered for an academic scholarship.
