Scholars

Some students choose to apply to be scholars and take part in a selection process. There are a range of scholarships available including Academic, Sport, Art, Music, Dance, and Drama scholarships. Successful students are awarded reduced fees or free music/dance lessons.

The purpose of the Scholarship Programme is to stretch the students beyond the curriculum, celebrate scholars’ academic achievements, and to enhance the culture of academic rigour within the College.

As well as participating in the activities designed for More Able students as outlined above, our Scholarship Programme enables students to attend a series of talks and lectures from speakers on an annual theme. This year’s theme is ‘Power’. Students are inspired by the range of speakers who bring their perspective on the theme. This year’s themes include:

  • the power to change
  • the power to influence
  • the power of music
  • the power of law

Scholars then create their own work by investigating the theme in the direction of their choice. They create a written article or a piece of work in their chosen genre e.g. dance and present it at a Celebration Evening. Their work is then published in a book which will be available digitally to share with the College community.
